Consumers' Association of Canada: No Fly - Do Cry

(Ottawa)

"Has Canada's Government completely lost its direction?" asks Consumers Association of Canada VP Mel Fruitman.

"At a time when identity theft is on the increase and when the
application of security measures varies dramatically between airports and between security personnel they're going to introduce a mysterious arbitrary "no-fly" list."

This is an affront to all Canadians which will be seen as a rapid descent from the principles of due process which we hold dear.

Who knows who is on the list, how they got there, how faults can be rectified, and worst of all - you don't find out you are listed until you're at the boarding gate!

When this is combined with the intolerable delays with respect to the issuing of passports, one can only assume that the government holds Canadian travelers in contempt.
